Fresh Energy
‘Fresh Energy’ is a celebration of healthy and sustainable living. My Visual research is inspired by the refreshing, vibrant colours and abstract shapes within fruit which influenced my decision to create a sustainable beachwear collection. This application lent itself nicely to my colour palette which is full of greens, yellows and reds; perfect for summer and for provoking optimism and wellbeing.
I mainly focused on hand embroidery as it allowed me to create intricate designs suitable for product application. I explored colour blending using different threads and sustainable sequins to add texture and depth to my designs. I also used the cornely machine to create larger scale samples as the technique proved to be effective on the cotton and linen that I was using. In addition to embroidery and embellishments, I also experimented in CAD. This also allowed me to explore scale and encouraged the playful and fun vibe that I wanted to reflect through my concept.
