I took part in a Live Brief in Collaboration with a company in Nottingham called MYSIGHT. It is a company which provides support for the visually impaired and we were given the opportunity to create a collection of samples suitable for them. 

 

We underwent training in order to understand how to help and guide visually impaired people and this gave us a better understanding of the kinds of things that might be suitable/appropriate for them.

 

From the beginning, my group and I were intent on creating a concept which promoted inclusivity. We learnt from the training and from speaking to the service users that being visually impaired can lead you to feel isolated and alone. Our aim was to make a collection of samples for ALL which meant that in addition to colour; texture and sound were also important factors when it came to the design process.
